It’s an Allergic Reaction to Inflammation. These drugs are based on the chemical imbalance theory presuming that low serotonin levels can cause anxiety and depressive disorders. However, the chemical imbalance theory as a cause for anxiety and depressive disorders never was true. In fact, no experiment has ever shown that anyone has an ‘imbalance’ of any neurotransmitters or any other brain chemicals. The entire theory was hypothetical. Over the last ten years, many professionals tried to refute the chemical imbalance theory. According to David D. Burns, (When Panic Attacks) “This theory is fueled more by drug company marketing than by solid scientific proof. Billions of dollars of annual profits from the sale of antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications are at stake, so drug companies spend vast amounts of money promoting the chemical imbalance theory. They also subsidize a large portion of the budget of the American psychiatric Association and underwrite an enormous amount of research and education at medical schools.” “Academic research should be all about getting to the truth. Drug company research is all about selling new products.” “But if I tell you that your depression or panic attacks result from a chemical imbalance in your brain, then I’m telling you something that can’t be proven, because there is no test for a chemical imbalance in the human brain.” Recent research is showing that depression is an allergic reaction to inflammation Inflammation is the body’s natural response to infection, injury or foreign invasion, and when inflammation is triggered, the body produces many chemicals, such as cytokines. Tim de Chant of NOVA writes: “Inflammation is our immune system’s natural response to injuries, infections, or foreign compounds. When triggered, the body pumps various cells and proteins to the site through the blood stream, including cytokines, a class of proteins that facilitate intercellular communication. It also happens that people suffering from depression are loaded with cytokines.” Inflammation is caused by obesity, high sugar diets, high quantities of trans fats, unhealthy diets in general, and other causes. Inflammation and Gluten The most common culprit of inflammation is gluten. When gluten enters the intestinal lining, it then enters the bloodstream and eventually reaches the brain where it causes inflammation. Consequently, inflammation in the brain may develop into a neurological disorder such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, seizures and even schizophrenia. Your Brain’s Silent Killers: The Dangers of Sugar, Wheat and Carbs to Your Brain and the Benefits of Cholesterol to the Brain Amylase trypsin inhibitors (ATIs for short) that can provoke an inflammatory immune response in the GI tract by stimulating immune cells. This occurs in people regardless of whether they have celiac disease or not. Try to look for possible causes of inflammation such as infection, food intolerances, autoimmune disease, gluten intolerance. References: Brietzke E, Stertz L, et al. Top comments bubbanderson bubbanderson1 year ago As a recovering alcoholic I just finished his book on Alcohol and the Addictive Brain. I'm also a scientist working with electrophysiologists and geneticists and it was a great read for me. In the book he makes great recognition of the role of AA in treatment but spends most of it explaining the research that lead to the knowledge of the various neuronal mechanisms involved in addiction. The Big Book of AA recognizes alcoholism as a disease and this got me started on my exploration of the condition in parallel with my AA involvement. Dr. Blum's book gave me the technical understanding of my condition and if anything has reaffirmed my understanding of the disease model. A year sober and, with that understanding under my belt and the spiritual side of life getting worked on, I'll check out the cookbook !! It all helps ! 10 HABITS YOU NEED TO ADOPT TODAY TO STOP DEMENTIA OR ALZHEIMER’S BEFORE IT STARTS by LIKO on JUNE 18, 2017 with NO COMMENTS Dementia is a condition that includes multiple cognitive issues such as memory loss. It comes in various forms including vascular dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and Huntington’s disease. Alzheimer’s disease occurs in 60-80% of all cases. Dementia gets worse if the root cause is not treated. Apathy, depression, and memory loss are some of the most common symptoms. We give you some of the risk factors that can be controlled/treated: Head injuries Impaired thyroid function Insufficient physical activity Malnutrition/Vitamin deficiencies Medication that worsens the condition High cholesterol, hypertension, diabetes, and other cardiovascular issues Alcoholism Smoking 10 WAYS TO REDUCE THE RISK OF DEMENTIA Stop smoking Smoking damages every part of your body, including your brain. Studies have shown that smokers have a 45% higher risk of Alzheimer’s disease when compared to non- or ex-smokers. So, you better keep that cigarette away from you. Be more active Stimulate your blood flow and get your heart pumping. Exercise for at least half an hour every day to prevent chronic issues. Boost your vitamin B intake B vitamins reduce homocysteine or HC levels. This molecule damages the vascular system, and increases the risk of stroke, heart disease, and other vascular issues. Increase your vitamin B intake to prevent any age-related cognitive issues. Boost your vitamin D intake There is a strong link between vitamin D deficiency and cognitive issues/dementia. Consider using supplements to prevent any further damage to your brain. Spend more time in the sun and use high-quality supplements, especially in cold winter months. Brain challenge Bilinguals have lower risk of developing dementia unlike individuals who only speak one language. Challenge your brain, and delay the onset of memory loss. Protect your head Always wear a helmet when riding a bike or walking on ice. Protect your head, and prevent injuries. Alcohol isn’t your friend Drinking too much alcohol increases your risk of dementia, so try to control your “urge.” Numbers matter Always keep a track on your weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol. Pay more attention to your cardiovascular and metabolic health. Socialize Walk with your best friend or call someone. Isolating yourself is not the best thing you can do. Spend more time with your friends and family, your brain needs company. Learn something new, and get your brain busy. Your mental health matters! Stay away from all sources of aluminum
